After viewing my best friend Doug's entry on his retired and favorite shirts I thought it would be fun to show 6 of my own favorite and retired (except a couple) shirts.

1. My Colorado Avalanche jersey that Doug bestowed upon me years ago. This jersey has been retired until it is cold enough for me to enjoy it in Southern Florida.

2. This is an Alice in Chains shirt that I bought many years ago on eBay. This shirt still gets worn on rare occasions. I love this shirt and people always question me about it.

3. This is a Soundgarden shirt based on the song "Kickstand." This shirt has been retired because of heavy use and has the holes in the collar to prove such. The lost wheel is on the back of the shirt.

4. This is one of two Super Mario Bros. shirts based on the highly successful Super Mario Bros. 3 video game for the NES. These are unofficially retired shirts because they are just too cool to wear. They occasionally are worn around the apartment, but nothing that is strenuous on the shirts.

5. ... ... ... ... ...

6. This shirt still gets heavy use and would be considered the top runner as favorite shirt of those available to still wear. It's simple and I love it. It is from Wal-Mart, I believe the cost was $7.77... truly a bargain among bargains.

1002

When I got my job working at the school it was a little unexpected. I have found that my life consists of me putting little effort into becoming successful, things just always seem to work out. If I lose a dollar four quarters will be in the soda machine change return. I guess it's why when I started realizing that finding a job was proving to be difficult before the school year started should have come as no worry. About a week after I gave up looking one of my professors decided I would be perfect for a Research Assistant.

Sarah, in the meantime has gone on countless interviews, job searches and is still jobless. I'm not sure how my 15 hours a week, $15 an hour job is going to support us, but I'm sure something will happen and so I am not worried.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... I have a neice.

Oops. That's Smokey, he's getting fat and old... he's always been stupid...

Here's Lilianna...

And, that's my stupid smile (or lack of one).

As busy as I have been lately... and boy have I. I have also been bored. I don't know exactly what it is that is causing this boredom, perhaps it is because my kitty has been forced to live in a 10' x 12' box (and this also makes me sad) so she cannot run around, sit on me and wreak the havoc I crave. It's been several weeks since she has been put in the room because of ringworm. I can choose to go in there and play with her, which I do sometimes, but it isn't the same. It is also painful to see her sitting on the porch behind a glass door looking back at me and meowing.

I know this has only added to my overall boredom and it will only be another few weeks before she can come back to play in the rest of my home, but it sucks.

In the meantime I have been taking full-time graduate school classes, which although interesting and I enjoy them, they are a lot of work and very little fun. I have also become employed in my time as a graduate student, working 15 hours a week at the school. This basically means that I am at school for 9 hours on Monday, another 9 on Tuesday (4 classes total) and then another 5 the last three days of the work week.

I am employed as a Research Assistant (here) working on a major project (here). It is both fun and very tedious. This week I need to gather data for all the counties on the coast and 1 county in from the coast from Texas all the way to North Carolina. I was told I would also get to work on the web page when needed.

All of this basically leaves me with very little Chris and Sarah time and even less Chris time. I would say about 95% of my time is me doing something school/work related. I get very little sleep and in about a week I have 3 papers due, a presentation, and need to turn in raw data that I have yet to gather.

I guess it is easy to see the reason why I am bored, I am too busy doing things that do not entertain me and my spontaneous kitty entertainment has been curtailed for what will be a total of about 9 weeks.

The basketball season is shortly around the corner and that should help me tremendously. Plus, the Bears beat the Packers, that made me happy.

As for the title of this post, I am going to start numbering because I am running low on sleep and thus creative titles and I like how when you start a checkbook for the first time they let you start at 1000, so there you have it, this is a new beginning and it starts with post 1000. The 999 posts before are irrelevant and, yes, I am aware there aren't 999 posts previous to this one but I just don't give a.............
